In the early eighties, I embarked on a series of large charcoal drawings with the encouragement of Meredyth Moses of Clark Gallery in Lincoln, Massachusetts. Precursors to my digital work, the ten drawings shown here were done with a finely-sharpened charcoal pencil on Lenox rag paper and emphasized chiaroscuro, with the tones stroked onto the crest of the paper grain.
